Pharmachem - Environmental Laboratory

Following the new European trends in the field of environmental protection and improvement, and recognizing the need for continuous and accurate monitoring of the environmental status in the Republic of N.Macedonia, with the goal of bringing N.Macedonia closer to the European environmental standards by 2014, Pharmachem Environmental Laboratory was established at the beginning of 2008.

In 2010, Pharmachem Environmental Laboratory obtained an Accreditation Certificate according to the standard MKS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018.

In 2014, as a part of Pharmachem, the Environmental Laboratory also opened a calibration department for force and volume, with the accreditation of methods for calibrating construction presses and methods for calibrating pipettes with a plunger.

Following market needs for the accreditation of new methods, Pharmachem continuously invests in new "state of the art" analytical equipment. As a result, the Pharmachem Environmental Laboratory permanently expands its scope of work through the accreditation of new methods, and currently it has 42 accredited testing methods and 4 accredited calibration methods.

Since February 2024, the laboratory has been relocated to a new facility, designed and built according to all standards for laboratories of this type.

WHY CHOOSE SERVICES OF AN ACCREDITED LABORATORY ACCORDING TO ISO/IEC 17025?

ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is the only and most important standard for calibration and testing laboratories worldwide. Laboratories accredited according to ISO 17025 are technically capable and competent to provide precise and accurate data for testing and calibration. Accreditation is a voluntary process that is reviewed and monitored by a third body (Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia – IARM) and through which the laboratory’s quality management system is regularly evaluated to ensure continuous technical competence and compliance with ISO 17025.

Accreditation bodies use the ISO 17025 standard when assessing the factors that are relevant to the laboratory's ability to provide precise, accurate data for testing and calibration, including:

  • Monitoring measurements and calibrations to national standards;

  • Technical competence of staff, who are continually upgrading their knowledge;

  • Maintenance of sophisticated equipment, regularly calibrated in accredited laboratories and serviced in authorized service centers;

  • Ensuring the quality of testing and calibration data, through the expression of measurement uncertainty;

  • Validity and appropriateness of testing methods;

  • Proper handling and transportation of test items;

  • Quality of sample collection and testing in the field.

To ensure continuous compliance, Pharmahem's Environmental Laboratory undergoes evaluations and inspections in order to determine if it maintains the required standard of technical expertise. The laboratory is also required to participate in regular proficiency testing programs (PT schemes and inter-laboratory comparisons) as an ongoing demonstration of its competence.

WHAT BENEFITS DO CLIENTS GET FROM THIS?

ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation helps the client:

  • Minimize the risk of unreliable results, knowing that they are choosing a technically competent laboratory with an established and verified quality management system;

  • Avoid costly retesting, as the service is fully performed by an independent, competent testing and/or calibration laboratory that has been evaluated by a third party;

  • Receive internationally recognized results.

Clients that are searching for an accredited laboratory according to ISO 17025 need to look no further than the Pharmachem's Environmental Laboratory. The trained personnel at Pharmachem Environmental Laboratory meet the clients’ requirements and provide ideal conditions for collaboration to ensure the delivery of quality services such as testing and calibration that meet client needs.
